Apple releases new software via macOS Software Update:
- Apple XProtect Payloads version 163 (Update Product ID: 142-20148)
XProtect is part of the built-in antivirus software of macOS. The package does not appear in the Software Update section of System Preferences (or App Store in older versions of the operating system). macOS is updating the software automatically in the background if you have granted the system permission to download system data files and security-related files.

File Date version 1.5 through the App Store:
- This is a routine update ensuring full compatibility with macOS 27 Golden Gate.
JPEG Photo File Date comes to help when you have lost the file creation or modification times of JPEG photo files: It can read the metadata of a JPEG photo file when the picture was taken and fix the file settings for “date created” or “date last modified” accordingly. Even large amounts of pictures, such as a folder hierarchy with several tens of thousands of photos, can be processed quickly without any problems.

SF Symbols is a library of over 7,000 symbols designed to integrate seamlessly with San Francisco, the system font for Apple platforms. Symbols come in nine weights and three scales, automatically align with text, and can be exported and edited using vector graphics tools to create custom symbols with shared design characteristics and accessibility features. Symbols feature multi-layer drawings designed for motion, enabling a range of expressive animations. Crafted for a global audience, symbols automatically adapt to a user’s reading direction and feature localized designs for over 20 international scripts.
- Enhanced Search uses semantic understanding to surface the most relevant symbols for your query.
- SF Symbols features new symbols and design updates to existing symbols that integrate with Apple’s universal design language.

We are introducing the new application TinkerTool
System 10 version 10.0:
- Added full support for macOS 27 Golden Gate. This is the minimum operating system version for TinkerTool System 10.
- The features to set mount options per volume have now moved to a separate pane.
- The user interface has been redesigned completely and now tries to prefer volume names over UUIDs when technically possible.
- Added new Info entries to show technical details about the Apple Neural Engine
- Added new Info entry to indicate the hypervisor-capabilities (Virtual Machine support) of the processor
- Added new Info entry to indicate the maximum number of address spaces for Virtual Machines
- Added new Info table to indicate L1 and L2 cache sizes for each core type
- Added new Info section to show the distribution of processor cores on clusters and chip dies
- Added new feature to determine the clock frequency range of each processor core
- Added support for the new network interface type for WiFi-Aware networking
- Added new feature to repair all metadata for the shared user folder, not only recreating a lost folder. This feature is always available, including demo mode.

Backup Server Control provides a graphical user interface to setup and administer a server for network-based Time Machine® backups with a few mouse clicks on a Macintosh®. Other Macs running macOS Sierra or later can perform backups on the Time Machine server. The current status of network backups can be reviewed any time.

The Mobile Device Update adds support for new Apple devices on older operating systems down to macOS 10.15. Official support for macOS 14 Sonoma has ended.

- Command Line Tools for Xcode 27.0 (Update Product ID: 082-83364)
The Command Line Tools enable UNIX-style development via Terminal by installing command line developer tools, as well as macOS SDK frameworks and headers. Many tools are included, such as the Apple LLVM compiler, linker, and Make. If you use Xcode, these tools are also embedded within the Xcode IDE.

- This version adds a workaround for the diagnostic overview of flash memory where macOS mistakenly monitors third-party SSDs but only retrieves zero values. The display of affected devices is now suppressed correctly.
- Added a detection for a technical defect expected in future versions of macOS where the operating system feature to check the current release of Apple’s XProtect virus definitions may not work under all conditions.
- Fixes a problem where the search for dataless files and the feature to show purgeable files could result in a deadlock after showing the results if the preference setting to deauthorize after each completed operation was enabled.
- Fixes a problem where the list of found issues could be incomplete under specific circumstances when performing developer security checks on applications.
