We are releasing PrefEdit
version 5.9:
- Added new feature to show preference values of the binary data type in decoded form, as possible UTF–8 strings or full hex dumps.
- Added new feature to optionally consider the preference domains of Mac Catalyst apps in the domain overview or search operations (Macs with Apple Silicon only).
- Menu icons have been added for macOS 26 Tahoe.
- Many internal modernizations in window management.
PrefEdit is an application to manage nearly all aspects of the preference system contained in every macOS installation. The program consists of two components which are tightly integrated with each other: (1) An entry point to the preferences database of macOS, with access to all settings which are effective for your user account, (2) a browser and editor for macOS property list files (plists).

Apple releases new software via macOS Software Update:
- Apple XProtect Configuration Data version 5338 for OS X 10.11 to macOS 10.14 (Update Product ID: 122-29023)
- Apple XProtect Configuration Data version 5338 for macOS Catalina and later (Update Product ID: 122-29024)
XProtect is part of the built-in antivirus software of macOS. The package does not appear in the Software Update section of System Preferences (or App Store in older versions of the operating system). macOS is updating the software automatically in the background if you have granted the system permission to download system data files and security-related files.

- BridgeOS Customer Update 26.4.1 (Update Product ID: 122-28068)
The updates address defects, as well as critical
security issues in the operating systems. In particular,
they fix a bug where Macs with M5 Pro or M5 Max
processors could not connect to WiFi networks if 802.1X
authentication and content filtering where active at the
same time.

We are releasing TinkerTool System
9 version 9.88:
- Added several new product information fields for Macs with Apple Silicon. (This feature is available via the product sheet of the Mac section of the Info pane.) It is now possible to display RAM manufacturer and RAM chip type. It is also shown whether the Mac is battery-operated or the display is partially occluded by additional components, such as a camera notch.
- Added support to show the configuration of the new Super Cores on systems with M5 Pro or M5 Max processors.
- Performing a fan test is now also possible on Macs with M5 processors.
- Added a workaround for a technical limitation of macOS where the marketing name of Intel-based Macs could not be determined for specific model series released in the 2019/2020 time frame.
- Internal technical changes to guarantee compatibility with future versions of macOS when scanning folders.
- Fixed a problem where the color of the system case was not shown for specific model series on the Mac Info pane.
- The Technical Notes section of the reference manual now indicates version and date information for each note.
