We are releasing Sync
Checker version 4.4:
- Added new category of mismatch entries to indicate errors in the file name encoding of objects that resulted in invisible rename operations. Such effects can occur with incorrectly implemented third-party file systems or with NFS servers where the mount options are not set appropriately. Previous versions of Sync Checker presented these deviations as pairs of mutually missing objects.
- New report sheet to analyze file name encoding mismatches on a character-by-character basis.
- Added new user guidance in cases where a privileged sync check cannot be performed due to a “root squash” option for files on an NFS server.
- Added new dialog for cases where a user had mistakenly chosen a wrong pair of objects which are not synchronous at all.
- It is no longer necessary to switch off the Finder option to ignore ownership on a checked volume if a degree of match is chosen for the check that does not include permission settings.
Sync Checker is a diagnostic application which can check if two folders or volumes are perfectly synchronized, i.e. if they have exactly the same contents. When creating backup copies of valuable files, or when making sure that two computers or mobile devices work on the same set of data, the status of being “in perfect sync” can be very important. In order to be safe and to prevent loss of data, you can let Sync Checker verify whether a pair of file collections is matching exactly or not.

We are releasing Battery Monitor
version 5.3 through the Mac App Store:
- The window for monitoring batteries of connected Bluetooth devices now shows a USB indicator when an Apple input device is disconnected from Bluetooth but charged via USB on the same computer.
- The notification feature to show a warning when an AC adaptor is connected for a long time has been removed. With new systems that support optimized charging, enforced PowerNap, and third-party applications with a smart “charge inhibit” feature, it can no longer be estimated reliably whether prolonged charging in an operating computer would actually harm the battery, so the warning no longer makes sense.
- Added new feature to avoid a technical defect of specific versions of macOS where a monitored battery of a connected Bluetooth device from Apple can be shown with changing representations for the device’s serial number, sometimes being replaced by a Bluetooth address. Battery Monitor will try to show the correct data as soon as it could learn the relationship between address and number for the affected device.
- Fixed a problem where adding or removing specific Apple Bluetooth input devices could not be tracked live. A restart of the app may have been needed to update the Bluetooth window for the affected devices.
Battery Monitor is a powerful App to display the charge state of portable Macs in the Dock, to display internal battery information, to capture charge and discharge curves, to keep logs of the aging process of the battery, and to add notifications via Notification Center or speech output.

We are returning to readable product activation keys.
For more than 8 years, we have been using a very modern
way of activating licenses for paid applications, simply
by double-clicking registration ticket files.
A significant number of customers were confused by this
fast method of unlocking software features, because they
were used to either enter “serial numbers” by hand, or
to be monitored by an App Store via Internet. Other
users wanted a foolproof way to safely archive the
valuable license data as straightforward as possible,
not by relying on a file, but by writing the code down.
We have listened to you, so we are returning to readable product activation keys. Entering a name/key pair is no longer necessary, however. The new registrations are “single key only”, so they can easily be processed and recorded. Safety and license management are still guaranteed by performing a transparent online check each time the registration is transferred to a different computer.
The changes take effect today and our partner PayPro Global will offer the new registrations immediately. All older product activation methods will still work as before, so it won't be necessary to replace previous registrations.
When you purchase a new license for one of our applications outside Apple's App Store, please ensure to use a version with a build number greater than 241112. Such builds are available for all our current products down to macOS Sierra 10.12.
November 27, 2024:
We are re-releasing previous versions of our
applications that use paid licenses to become fully
compatible with a simplified product registration
method. This affects the following legacy versions
of our software:
- Backup Server Control version 2.54
- Mac Power Monitor version 1.1
- NFS Manager version 4.92
- PrefEdit version 4.51
- PrefEdit version 5.2
- Sync Checker version 3.71
- Sync Checker version 3.92
- Sync Checker version 3.93
Users who already have a registration don't need to update to these new builds. The retrofitted versions are provided for customers that like to use new licenses with old operating systems.

We are releasing NFS
Manager version 5.96:
- Added support for new macOS 15 options to control the minimum and maximum attribute cache times for the root folders of NFS mounts separately from the attribute caching behavior for other folders.
- Added new statistics section to monitor the response and error codes received by the NFS client. This feature is available in macOS 15 or later only.
- Added new statistics section to monitor the response and error codes sent by the NFS server (macOS 15 or later only).
- Added full support for the new client statistics counter for the Network Lock Manager (macOS 15 or later only).
- Added new user interface for simplified license registration and activation features which will become available in the near future.
- Fixed a race condition which could sometimes cause the listed entries for automounts to be incomplete for directory service nodes in some operating system versions.
NFS Manager is an application to control the NFS features built into macOS via a comfortable graphical user interface. The application uses Apple’s technologies like Bonjour or Open Directory to make management as easy as possible. When using directory services, NFS Manager can configure NFS features not only for a single computer but for a whole network of thousands of Macintosh systems, with a few mouse clicks only.

version 5.6:

The program consists of two components which are tightly integrated with each other: (1) An entry point to the preferences database of macOS, with access to all settings which are effective for your user account, (2) a browser and editor for macOS property list files (plists).
