TinkerTool

June 30, 2020:
We are releasing TinkerTool version 7.5:

  • Added preliminary support for future operating systems.
  • Added new option to disable the temporary preview to edit screenshots.

TinkerTool is an application that gives you access to additional preference settings Apple has built into macOS. This allows to activate hidden features in the operating system and in some of the applications delivered with the system.

Apple Software Update

June 29, 2020:
Apple releases new software via macOS Software Update:

  • Apple XProtect Configuration Data version 2124 (Update Product ID: 001-22545)
  • Apple XProtect Configuration Data for OS X El Capitan or later, version 2124 (Update Product ID: 001-22543)

XProtect is part of the built-in antivirus software of macOS. The packages does not appear in the Software Update section of System Preferences (or App Store in older versions of the operating system). macOS is updating the software automatically in the background if you have granted the system permission to download system data files and security-related files.

Battery Monitor

June 29, 2020:
We are releasing Battery Monitor version 3.6 through the Mac App Store:

  • Added new option to suppress the battery icon in the menu bar if both the menu-bar item and its percentage display feature are active. This allows you to place Apple’s battery icon and Battery Monitor’s percentage value next to each other in the menu bar, combining the best of both worlds.
  • The app now accepts that its icon can be replaced by the Finder. This will no longer raise a security warning.

Battery Monitor is a powerful App to display the charge state of portable Macs in the Dock, to display internal battery information, to capture charge and discharge curves, to keep logs of the aging process of the battery, and to add notifications via Notification Center or speech output.

  • Apple Malware Removal Tool (MRT) version 1.63 (Update Product ID: 001-19838)
  • Apple Malware Removal Tool (MRT), for OS X El Capitan or later, version 1.63 (Update Product ID: 001-19837)
  • Safari Technology Preview version 109 (Update Product ID: 001-21353)
  • Command Line Tools for Xcode 11.5 (Update Product ID: 001-07275)

MRT is part of the built-in antivirus software of macOS. Safari Technology Preview allows users to get a sneak peek at upcoming web technologies in macOS and experiment with these technologies in websites and extensions.

TinkerTool 1

June 17, 2020:
In these special times, people take interest in retro computing as a hobby. By request of fans, we are making two selected historic versions of TinkerTool available to the public again:

  • TinkerTool 1.1.2 (originally released January 30, 2001) for use with Mac OS X Public Beta
  • TinkerTool 1.5.2 (originally released September 7, 2001) for use with Mac OS X 10.0

These versions are digital reconstructions, re-built from the original sources. The software is made available “as is”, without any support or documentation.

  • BootCamp Electronic Software Distribution for Mac OS X Lion to macOS Sierra (Update Product ID: 041-96204)
These updates are necessary to add support for the new MacBook Pro (16 inch, 2019) with AMD Radeon Pro 5600M.

Due to security issues, Apple had to publish revised versions of the macOS 10.15.5 Catalina update. 10.15.5 introduces battery health management in the Energy Saver settings for notebooks, an option to control automatic prominence of video tiles on Group FaceTime calls, and controls to fine-tune the built-in calibration of the Pro Display XDR. The update also improves the stability, reliability, and security of macOS.
