Why can't I move the icon in the menu bar? The icons provided by Mac OS X can be moved by dragging them with the Command key pressed.

Apple's icons are components of Mac OS X which are called “Menu Extras”. The rightmost part of the menu bar and the feature to move the icons is exclusively available for Menu Extras only. Apple does not allow that third parties develop Menu Extras, and Mac OS X contains a protection mechanism which prevents third party applications from behaving like Menu Extras. For this reason CPU Speed Menu cannot have Menu Extra features. While it is technically possible to break the protection mechanism of Mac OS X which blocks these features, this is not considered good practice. Please send feedback to Apple if you want to have this restriction removed.
