TinkerTool System

Setting Preferences

TinkerTool System itself also uses preference values that can be set. To change a value, select the menu item Preferences in the menu TinkerTool System or press Cmd+,.

If the checkmark Always create report before performing any delete operations is set, TinkerTool System will display a complete list of files and folders that are going to be deleted before any actual delete operation takes place. You can review the list and cancel the delete operation if you find an object that should not be erased. If TinkerTool System is going to force-delete a single object, it will also ask you before actually doing so if this checkmark has been set.

The option Allow critical operations which could destroy Mac OS X overrides the protection mechanism TinkerTool System normally uses to avoid destruction of the operating system. After the checkmark has been set, the application will disable the protection. When you are about to perform an operation which could damage system components, TinkerTool System will only display a warning panel, but you can finish the dangerous operation at your own risk.

CAUTIONIt is not recommended to activate this option. Only very experienced system administrators who know exactly what they are doing should override the protection temporarily. The operating system could be damaged, making the computer unusable and its data inaccessible.
