How do I enforce permissions in selected folders?

If Fork Server Helper should enforce special permission settings in folders you have specified, set the checkmark at Modify permission settings in specified folders at the bottom of the control window:

The permissions that should be set are controlled by five pop-up buttons. You must set the new

• owner for the files,
• the group entry for the files,
• and the respective permissions for owner, group and other users. You can select between Read & Write, Read and No Access in all three cases.

Fork Server Helper will automatically display all users and groups known in your network in the respective pop-up menus.

• To avoid security problems, the program does not allow to set system-internal accounts (user IDs between 0 und 100) as the new owners of files.
• To avoid security problems, Fork Server Helper will never touch files that have the SUID or SGID flags set.
